Anniversary Calculator β€” How Long Have You Been Together?

This Anniversary Calculator turns one date into exact years, months, days together, a next-anniversary countdown, and its traditional gift. Free.

How this works

Unlike the other calculators on this site, there is no verdict to disagree with here, just the calendar. Enter the date you got together and this counts the actual years, months and days since then, calculates your next anniversary and finds the traditional gift for that year. It's not a hash, it's arithmetic so the same date will give the same answer for as long as that remains true. Nothing is stored.

Prefer a game with a verdict instead? Try the Love Calculator, Love Tester, FLAMES, or the Twin Flame Calculator.

Traditional anniversary gifts by year

The classic list, made popular by 20th century etiquette guides and still the one most commonly cited today. Some years have two names, because the sources really disagree, and so both are kept here, rather than choosing one and calling it settled.

How exactly is the time together calculated?

It's a correct subtraction for a calendar, not an approximation – it counts whole years, then whole months, then whatever days are left, just as you would count by hand on a calendar. It is not days divided by 365 that float.

Does it account for leap years?

Yes. The calculation is based on actual calendar dates, rather than a fixed number of days, so leap years are automatically taken into account – no special leap-year logic is needed, or can go wrong.

What if we got together on February 29th?

If there is no Feb 29th, your anniversary is on March 1st that year. There is no one convention agreed upon among date calculators in general; this is the one this tool uses.

Do you store the date we enter?

No β€” same as everywhere else on this site. The date lives in the link you get back, nowhere else.

Where does the traditional gift list come from?

20th-century etiquette books, republished and lightly varied by source ever since. There is no one official authority for it - the most often cited version is used here on this page.

Can I bookmark or share our result?

Yes, and it remains accurate – unlike a result page on some other part of this site, this page recalculates from today’s date every time it’s opened, so the duration and countdown are always current, not frozen at whatever moment you first generated the link.

Does this work as a wedding or marriage anniversary calculator too?

Yes. You need not feed the program the date from when you started going out; all that you have to do is to provide the wedding date and the marriage or wedding anniversary calculator will be yours for free. The computation is blind to what you choose to do with the dates.

Can I see how many months we've been together, not just years?

Sure enough – the total number of months is displayed right next to the total number of days, alongside the total years/months/days format right above that.

How many seconds have we been together, and does it update live?

Go down to the fact grid below your result where the time in seconds is a real live countdown, calculating from the real present moment and increasing by one each second as long as the page remains open, not just an estimate set upon loading. Time in hours and minutes also increases, and even years and weeks, but obviously not as quickly.
