Privacy

The short version

• No accounts. There is no sign-up, no email address, no password.
• Google Analytics. It counts visits, and sets a few cookies to do it. It is the only third party this site contacts.
• No advertising at present.
• No database. Nothing you type is stored, sold, or shared for marketing.

The section below matters more than that summary does, so please read it before you send anyone a report.

The names you type in

Until you press the button, the two names never leave your browser. Nothing is transmitted as you type.

When you press it, the names are encoded and become part of the page address. A report for Aditi and Rohan lives at /en/report/QWRpdGkfUm9oYW4/. That address is then requested from our host in the ordinary way, which means the encoded names travel with it.

Two things follow, and we would rather be blunt about both:

• That code is encoding, not encryption. It hides the names from a casual glance and nothing more — anyone holding the link can turn it back into the two names in seconds. Treat a report link the way you would treat a note left face-up on a table.
• The link goes wherever you send it. Posting it in a group chat, sending it on WhatsApp, or simply leaving it in your browser history all carry the two names along with it.

We do not write the names into a database, because there is no database. They do, however, appear in server request logs — see hosting, below.

Cookies, and what is kept on your device

Google Analytics sets a small number of cookies, with names beginning _ga. They hold a randomly generated identifier, so that three page views by you are counted as one visitor rather than three. They are read by Google, not by us. Nothing else on the site sets a cookie.

One further item is stored on your device, and it is not a cookie: a browser storage entry called theme, holding the word light or dark, and only if you have used the theme toggle in the header. It never leaves your device and is never sent to us. If you have not touched that toggle, nothing whatsoever is stored. Clearing site data for this site removes it.

Hosting and server logs

The site runs on Cloudflare Workers. As with any website, standard request information reaches the host: your IP address, your browser's user-agent string, the address you requested, and the time you requested it. Because report addresses contain the encoded names, those names form part of that request information.

Cloudflare's built-in observability is switched on, which retains recent request logs so that faults can be diagnosed. We do not build profiles from those logs, and we have no way to connect a request to a named person. Cloudflare processes this data under its own terms — see the Cloudflare privacy policy.

Fonts

The site uses Baloo 2, served from this domain rather than from Google Fonts. Your browser fetches the font file from us, so loading it tells no third party anything about you.

Analytics

The site uses Google Analytics — GA4, property G-6LQH17CL1E — to count visits and see which pages people actually use. It records the page address you viewed, your approximate location worked out from your IP address, and your browser and device type. The script is loaded only once your browser is idle, so it never delays the page itself. See the Google privacy policy.

One consequence is worth spelling out. Analytics records the address of every page you view, and the address of a report page contains the two encoded names. So Google receives those encoded names for any report page you open, and — as explained above — that encoding can be reversed by anyone holding it. If that bothers you, do not open report links on this site.

Advertising

No adverts are served at the moment, and nothing on the site is currently used for advertising purposes. We do intend to introduce advertising. When we do, this page will be updated before the first advert appears, and it will name who serves them and what they store on your device.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone — which naturally includes them.

Your rights and requests

Because there are no accounts and no database, there is usually nothing held about you to export, correct or delete. If you want to ask what request information exists, or you believe a particular report link should not be circulating, email hello@truelovereport.com and include the link. We will tell you honestly what we can and cannot do about it.

Changes to this page

The date at the top changes whenever the wording does. If a change materially affects what happens to your information, we will make that plain rather than quietly editing a line.
